I think they just tell you to either get rid of it (you can) or you cant become a vampire. Personally, i didnt tested yet what happens if you wanna join the vampires while being a werewolf. If you become a vampire you cant become a werewolf. I dont know wether this is the question but no, the Dawnguard doesnt care about you being a werewolf unless you transform into it. But if i drink some blood i of course lose all advantages of being a vampire (except lord form). I thought they fixed it but i still get witchhunted on max. Also, once you become a vampire lord you cant enter cities anymore. So you need lot of potions unless you cant kill him quickly. a dragon at day you will have problems since you have decreased stats and no regeneration. Personally, i wouldnt recommend to play Vampires unless your are really well leveled. Just let me add some stuff to the other questions: Just ask if you're wondering about anything else. I'd recommend you to chose one side and stay with it. and you're effectively locked out of both sides (this still lets you progress through the quest line though). If you side with the dawnguard and lock the out the vampire faction, then become a vampire later on, the dawnguard do not want to talk to talk to you. WARNING: When you chose side, you are not able to go into the base of the other faction, so if you are a vampire the dawnguard don't want anything to do with you. Yes you can also become a vampire later on unrelated to what side you chose. I almost forgot that your illusion spells and sneaking are stronger as a vampire and you get some built in abilities such as invisibility and necromancer stuff.Īll in all very preference based as both sides are very similar even in the differences. You can still get the normal dawnguard gear when killing dawnguards through the storyline, but not however the spells or the artifacts. You also have some form of hounds as a vampire and a gargoyle to replace the troll. I find these more useful as they have a larger impact on your character overall, and some even affect your vampire lord form. There are also artifacts on the vampire side.
#SKYRIM DAWNGUARD DLC UPGRADE#
This form has it's own skill tree which you can fill with perks and upgrade as you progress (it's increadibly cool the first time you play it). A very powerfull form that is a force to be reckoned with. And of course, you're a vampire lord now. You also get that draining spell you see vampires use in vanilla skyrim, which you can later upgrade and make it drain stamina and magica aswell. While in the sun you're weaker, you don't regenerate and have reduced stamina/health/magica.

This effect gets stronger the longer you go without drinking blood, but stops progressing after 4 days. You get frost resistance and take more fire damage. Just being a vampire have some effects on your gameplay. Other than this there isn't that many pros except being able to have an armored cave troll and a battle dog. There also 3 new spells, these are sun based, like the turn undead spells and only do damage to undead enemies but they are awesome as all hell. The dawnguard's artifacts are even more effective against vampires and undead than the normal dawnguard equipment, and one are also more effective against normal enemies. Each side also have some artifacts that can only be gotten if sided by that faction.

Crossbows can be gotten from either side, but only through the dawnguard can you get better crossbows tan the standard. There's also crossbows and how awesome isn't that. In the dawnguard you get equipment that spesificly does more damage to vampires and let you kill them easier. There are some pros and cons being on each side. Here you either become a vampire lord, or keep on being a normal you in the dawnguard. You have to join the dawnguard for the dlc to even start, but later on you choose which faction you want to commit to.
